My First Day (TA)

Janurary 27, 2023

Today is my first day being a student discussion leader. So far, I have 12 students in my class this semester. So, I’m very excited about what’s to come. I got up at 8:30 to see what I would wear. Since I put in my lesson the no tears left to cry music video by Ariana Grande, I thought to myself, let’s put on some of the merch I got from her concert. So I did.

I got some jean joggers, a white turtleneck, her Sweetener World Tour T-Shirt, Black and White Vans, and a beanie saying “Ariana Grande” on one side and the other saying “Break Free.” I also got my trench coat since it’s cold out! I go to my Gods and Heroes in Art class for my minor with Dr. Davis.

After my class was complete, I went to the Union to get lunch. I was thinking of Quiznos, but no, the line was busy. Chick-Fil-A wasn’t even an option. Then I thought, “let’s go to CrossRoads.” I got my lunch and then headed to Gaylord Hall to eat my lunch on the third floor.

After lunch, I went to Lindsey and Asp/Creative Lab on the second floor. I waited for 1:30 to hit. Time was coming close. My heart was racing fast as a cheetah. I almost felt sweat coming down my forehead. I prayed beforehand and then went to Copeland Hall for my discussion class.

1:20 p.m.

I waited for another class to get done. Then, both me and my students walked in. I got myself set up and asked my students how their day and week had been.

1:30 p.m.

I introduced myself and did an icebreaker with my students. Then, I got into my lesson. Time went on, and it was almost time for them to go.

2:10 p.m.

After my lesson, I showed them my blog website. I asked if they had questions about the site or anything related to Intro to Media.

2:20 p.m.

“Does anyone else have more questions about your site?” I said.

Everyone shook their heads.

“Well, if no one has any more questions, have a good weekend. I’ll see you guys next Friday!” I said.

I loved my first week engaging with my students, and I can’t wait for how the semester will be for them.
