Arabian Dreams

We used the Western style to express our own themes and stories. But don’t forget that our heritage includes The Thousand and One Nights.” – Naguib Mahfouz

Why “Arabian Dreams” as your title for this blog? Well, the cause I chose it is that here at OU, I’ve chitchatted a lot about my music journey a lot. Here I’ve played a lot of songs on my violin and viola a lot. I missed it to the point where I desired to be in the civic orchestra here next year. I also played it in high school. The composer is Soon Hee Newbold. Arabian Dreams have been put into three different parts to create an image that you’re a part of the classic “Tales from 1001 nights.” From “Aladdin and the magic lamp,” “Alibaba and the Forty Thieves,” and “The Adventures of Sinbad and the Seven Seas,” to name a few.

Honestly, the song makes me so happy. Not only that, the majority of my friends heard it. They love it because it reminds them of the Disney movie “Aladdin.” I would give the piece 10/10 for violin and viola. I love the galloping part in all sections of the orchestra.

Please listen to Arabian Dreams while reading About the Music.

About the Music:

Arabian Dreams was influenced by some of her favorite legends of the Middle East. The piece depicts a fiery sunrise, castle spires, and elegant horses at a desert oasis. The piece is put into three sections. Sunrise in the beginning, then Market Place, and lastly Galloping representing a horse running through the desert.
