So, during my span in LPS (Lawton Public Schools), I always had educators that made an impact. One of the teachers that I respect so much is Mrs. Kathy Liticker.
I’ve had Mrs. Liticker from sixth grade to my senior year. She has changed my life and has put in the effort for me to be a better player. I love music, but I’d never anticipated having to pick up an instrument that fast. She always picked good pieces to play and fascinating ones. From; Eclipse, Declarations, Gauntlet, The Dance of Iscariot, Warrior Legacy, etc.
When I first started in sixth grade, I picked orchestra as an elective. I knew that the minute I picked up the viola, I instantly fell in love with it. I knew moments after touching it. Never would I expect it to change my life. When I met Mrs. Liticker, I gave her a broken bow and a viola that my sister played. Who knew after that moment that she would play an enormous part in my life. When I was a junior, I started doing private lessons with her at her home. The minute I walked into her home, I was astonished about how beautiful it was. I remember all of the good memories that I had. Not just private lessons. After my senior farewell assembly, I wanted to cry so badly because of my legacy at Lawton High School. I then went to the band room, where everything happened. From memories with other students, the nostalgia, etc. Then, I saw Mrs. Liticker in the music library, and I cried in front of her because I was going to miss her. She was like a mother to me so much. I forever adore Mrs. Liticker and all of the things that she did for my time in orchestra. I saw her again in November of 2021, where she was the clinician for the all-region orchestra. I was full of joy when I saw her. So, with everything that I witnessed, she was an amazing teacher to have. Thank you, Mrs. Liticker for everything.
