As some of y’all know, Mark came up with this idea during a free-ranging course discussion in which I confessed my desire to teach a class entitled “Elf and Social Identity.” (That title is something I typed too fast into Google Scholar while teaching a research class; add an “S” at the front to get the boring reality of my intentions…)
