Blogging as a means of writing is an interesting one that I had never engaged with before. Video essays, sure, but written blogs were never something I regularly consumed—much less done myself. That being said, I do regret not giving myself the appropriate time to do so. That was a running theme with all my classes this semester. The experience was still worthwhile though. It encouraged me to think more deeply about the media I enjoy and writing about said topics facilitated my familiarization with the format.
Beyond becoming familiar with blogging, I got better at conveying my ideas coherently and concisely—an indispensable skill for writing stories that do not drag on forever. It also spurred a renewed interest in my writing projects. I am hoping this is the year I finally get my book finished.
Blogging kept the course interesting. I loathe writing papers on topics I have no personal interest or connection with so this format actually encouraged me to write something I could be proud of, not just a hastily written paper with no soul. It was a brilliant addition in my opinion. Since my other classes are largely engineering/mathematics related, I do not know if you would be able to incorporate the blogging method to them; however, less cut-and-dry classes like philosophy or art could definitely find value in students blogging their thoughts and opinions.
