Life has been going well lately. School has been going well and stressful at times. I really can’t complain. From a maturity standpoint, I have significantly grown this semester in my approach to my business and school. I have accomplished almost all of my goals for the semester and still looking to complete a few more.

My social life has been good. I got closer to a lot of people and made a lot of new friends. Networking and meeting new people is something that has always been easy for me to do. I think it is also an important skill to have. While at OU, I noticed that people take networking for granted and like to stay within their friend group.

Summer is around the corner, and I am looking forward to it. Getting a chance to see some friends I have not seen in a while and grow more as a person. I am looking forward to the new things I will learn in the workforce while working for Perry Publishing and Broadcasting. I always enjoy learning and improving myself in areas I need improvement. Improving yourself is not an easy thing to do. It makes you uncomfortable, but that’s an excellent way to grow; you must be uncomfortable. That’s all I want to keep doing is growing as a person. If I do that, I know anything is possible in life.

Last week I had to attend a Violin concert to understand music class. I had to write an essay about the concert. In the essay, I have to talk about the sounds of the music. What period the music was made in, and who was the composer? I enjoyed going to these concerts over the semester. I did not realize how good and relaxing classical music is.

As a whole, I have enjoyed learning about classical music and the composer that has made the music. Classical Music has opened my eyes and made my perspective of music change. Many of the sounds I hear are rap, rock & roll, and pop. I hear classical music.

Music, as a whole, is a big part of my life. I think music has a significant influence on who I am as a person today. Music makes me feel invincible, not even in this world. I think everyone probably has something that can make them feel like this. It might be playing video games, reading books, or even doing a puzzle.

Music is good for the soul, in my opinion. It allows us to feel something most things don’t. I realized this when I was younger, and my dad played James Brown for me. Immediately when I heard his music, I felt it as well. Not literally but physically. That is how music is supposed to feel.

My friend Nick Jones asked me to take his photos in his Sigma gear because he just crossed the line. I was pretty surprised when he asked me to take his pictures because I knew the pictures were essential. I am not saying I am bad at taking pictures. I’m just saying some people on campus have been doing photography longer than me.

I had a lot of fun taking Nick’s photos. I also learned a lot while taking his photos. It opened up my eyes to new ideas and creativity while taking photos. I do not want to do photography and videography as a profession. It is more of a hobby that I enjoy.

I enjoy photography and videography so much because I like to tell stories. I also like to talk, so that is another reason why. Reflecting on videos and pictures and reliving those moments is also fantastic. I need to get back into taking videos and pictures more consistently again. It does relax me and helps me with my mental peace.

I encourage people to get into photography and videography; so many opportunities come from having a camera. Also, a lot of money is in that business, so that is another reason why I encourage people to get a camera.

For quite some time, the talk of the sports world has been about the Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia fight. My friend Dav had a watch party at his house on the night of the fight. We ate burgers, hot dogs, and Oreo cheesecake. It was a good time.

The fight lasted seven rounds, with Davis coming out on top. Most of the house had Davis winning, and there were few people that had Ryan Garcia winning the fight. I know a few people were mad because they lost some money in the fight.

This fight was very controversial on social media. I know fighters promote the fight by having face-offs and talking trash to each other in front of the press, trying to build up the fight, but the media to this fight to another level. The direction of this fight went from Who’s the best lightweight boxer in the world to Black vs. Hispanics, or at least that it was on social media.

People on social media took this fight personally after Gervnota Davis said in an interview that Ryan Garcia was not Mexican because he does not speak Spanish. Now the Hispanic community came to Ryan’s defense and said Davis was wrong for making this comment. And ripped him on social media. The African American community then came to Davis’s defense and started to fire back.

As they say, bad publicity is good publicity. This made the fight ten times more interesting. This had to be the most highly anticipated boxing super fight in the last five years. They lived up to the hype of the fight, or should I say it lived up to everyone’s predictions of Garcia getting knocked out.

Over the weekend, I got a chance to interview people. I asked people if they knew a specific law and if they recognized it, and if they would agree with the law if Congress passed it. The person I asked was 18 years old, and he said he recognized the law and would agree with the freedoms. He believes everyone should be able to voice their opinion, which is the shield laws. He thought that the laws provided the perfect amount of freedom. He did not recognize that the laws were similar to the First Amendment.

The following person, I asked about the laws. is a 53-year-old woman. she agreed with the laws and thought they weren’t excessive or provided too much freedom. Another person I asked was a 23-year-old man. He disagreed with the laws, thought they provided too much freedom, and thought the media should release their sources. He did recognize that the law went hand in hand with the first amendment.

Then I interviewed an 84-year-old man and an 84-year-old woman. Only one of them has heard shield laws. Once I explained to the one who did not understand the laws, she understood what was happening. They both agreed that law was not excessive. They also saw the correlation between the first amendment and the law.

A couple of weekends ago was the women of color. The guest speaker of the luncheon was actor Morris Chestnut. This was the 13th annual Women of Color Expo. The Women of Color Expo is to reach out to aspiring and achieving women from all walks of life in our community.

Black-owned businesses get a chance to promote their business in front of their community. They also get a chance to network with other business owners. The expo also has seminars about financial aid, health care, law firms, etc.

The Women of Color expo brings the community together. It also allows people to see a celebrity they admire in person and also get a chance to meet them. It also allows celebrities to see Oklahoma City for its true self. Chestnut also has Oklahoma ties. Some of his close family is from Tulsa. Chestnut talked about his career in acting and how he balances his career with everyday life.

The last part of the expo, which I think is the best part, is the fashion show. Seeing all of the different designs is pretty cool. The show also shows all the talent that is in Oklahoma when it comes to fashion. The Women of Color Exp is a hidden gem that people need to pay more attention to.

The year is 2023, me and my girlfriend, Natalie Haynes, travel to her hometown Charleston, South Carolina, for a family reunion. This is my first time getting a chance to meet her family. I am slightly nervous because she always talks about how weird her family is. Her great-grandfather Donald Haynes was the director of a home for the mentally ill in the early 40s. From what I’ve heard, he has gone crazy from working at the house for the mentally ill. However, nobody knows why he acts so strangely.
When we arrived at Natalie’s childhood home, we were greeted by her mother and father, Pam and Jim Haynes. Jim showed me around the house, and Donald Haynes was on the back porch. Natalie’s great-grandfather. The three of us talked about life and my future. Natalie and her mother were in the kitchen preparing dinner. All day I have wanted to know why the family says Donald is crazy and what happened at that house. After we ate a fantastic steak and potatoes on the side for dinner. We sat on the back porch by a fire. The mood was calm until a noise was heard in the distance. The noise startled Donald. It scared him so bad that he told everyone to go inside.

Natalie asked her grandfather why he got scared. Donald didn’t respond. He mumbled. Jim told him to speak up and tell us what he had said. Then he said, “ I hear the reporters.” Everyone was confused. Jim asked what reporters. Then the room went silent; nobody said a word. Then I thought about what really happened at that home for the mentally ill.

The next morning Donald was sitting by himself outside, drinking a cup of coffee. I went outside and sat next to him. “Good Morning!” Donald said. I said good morning back. Then I asked him, “Who are the reporters?” He then froze up like he saw a ghost. Donald then started to talk about what had happened at the home of the mentally ill.

Finally, Donald started to explain and ramble some more about the reporters. He said he remembered the reporters coming by the home and asking questions about the home. They even asked who built the house. The home was built in 1841 by Hiram Greybriar. The reporters also asked Donald if some of the inmates were famous. Donald also told us he would never answer those questions. I asked Donald why he never answered those questions; he said it was confidential. He also said those reporters returned and bothered them they would disappear.
