What’s the problem?

This week, I wanted to know more about what the overturning of Roe V Wade meant for women in America and how this affects their American Dream. To give some context, click the link below.

On June of 2022, the supreme court overturned Roe v. Wade. This represents a significant setback for the American Dream for women in America. This 1973 Supreme Court decision, Roe v. Wade has stood as a symbol of women’s reproductive rights and autonomy, ensuring access to safe and legal abortion. However, the reversal of this ruling threatens to undermine the progress made towards gender equality and women’s control over their bodies. Denying women the right to make decisions about their reproductive health not only infringes upon their fundamental freedoms but also hinders their ability to pursue their aspirations and dreams on equal footing with men. The American Dream encompasses the ideals of opportunity, freedom, and self-determination, yet without the protection of reproductive rights, women are denied this.

The reversal of Roe v. Wade perpetuates systemic inequalities, not only affects women as a whole but marginalized communities who may already face barriers to accessing healthcare and reproductive services. For many women, the ability to control their reproductive destinies is essential for pursuing education, career advancement, and overall well-being. Without the protections afforded by Roe v. Wade, women’s autonomy and agency are compromised, posing a threat to their ability to achieve their aspirations and participate fully in society. Upholding the American Dream for women requires safeguarding their reproductive rights and ensuring that they have the freedom to make choices that enable them to thrive and pursue their dreams without fear of discrimination or coercion.
