Tour Guides as a PR Technique for Tourism

Focus on your Target Audience

Creating a tour guide is a strategic process as the order of information and pictures included are a very important element. A tour guide should have targeted elements in order to appeal to the correct audience. These elements can include specific text or pictures that would most appeal to this audience. I made a tour guide for the Stafford Air and Space Museum. My target audience is space and aviation enthusiasts. In past blog posts, I have talked about the importance of personas and target audiences. While the text should appeal to the audience, graphics and photos included in the tour guide should also be appealing to the target audience. People often notice pictures before text as they are more easily and quickly absorbed.

Tour guides contain a lot of information about an attraction or place.

The Importance of Design Elements

Tour guides should appear as a cohesive and put together product. It is a good idea to have text and pictures to overlap over multiple pages. This will give the tour guide a sense of similar design among all of the pages. Within a tour guide, it is important to establish the museum or attraction as unique for the target audience and travelers. The continuation of slogans and design elements within a company and campaign is also essential. These elements ensure that audiences will see and comprehend the same campaign from different locations. A tour guide can be a great way to include history and background of a company or museum.
