Who are you?

I am a confident and hardworking PR professional. My writing and creativity have helped my skills in past projects and campaigns.

What are your PR qualifications?

I have written numerous press releases for organizations and events. Just this past summer I worked with Hansen Technologies working to write press releases and case studies for a new product promotion. As a member of the industry, I frequently study best practices as they change.

What do you enjoy about PR and why did you choose PR as a career path?

I view PR as an essential media for our society. Earned media helps consumers make reasonable purchasing or support decisions. Public relations gives me the opportunity to put my professional time into supporting something that I care about. I view PR as a challenge. Earned media has to be mutually beneficial, meaning that my organization has to convince others of its usefulness within a space. This makes the end results of work even more rewarding.

What motivates you regarding PR?

My end goal in PR is to work for an organization who supports a cause that I really care for. Within the nonprofit space, public relations plays a large role through earning the care and attention of the public. Getting the word out about an organization and its purpose is a difficult task with a lack of necessary funds. Trust is also important in this space because donators want to make sure that their donations are going to the appropriate sector.

Involvement on Campus

I have loved my past three years here at OU. I am involved in my church heavily and try to help out with events there when possible. I am also the secretary of PRSSA, a job that I have really enjoyed so far. It has given me a good perspective on PR and staying up to date with tasks.
