Fight Club the movie is about the main character Edward Norton who is depressed and suffers from insomnia. In this movie he meets a salesman named Tyler Durdan and eventually moves in with him where they host illegal fight nights.
In this film the two people would gather people from support groups to fight and they would host these “fight clubs.” It takes a while for Norton to realize that he is Durdan and has a split personality. In this film the two are the same people and he has just created another version of himself. This idea in the film of the split personality relates to this class as our whole first unit was on the idea of doppelgangers and doubles.
Although it was not initially clear that the Edward Norton and Tyler Durdan are the same person, overtime you will start to catch he hints that they are the same. I had found this move very exciting as it applies to the idea of doubles and doppelgangers in a film form. I also found this move to be great as it shows how bipolar a man can be as he is torn between being a very, “manly” person or being a sensitive and true person. The idea of creating two different personalities is very well depicted in this movie.
