Inspirations Through Media

Hey y’all! My name is Paige Brown, and I am a public relations major and minoring in marketing. My goal is to one day be able to promote different companies through the media. With that said, media has captivated me for quite some time. Since 8th grade, I would film and create vlogs for fun, and sometimes post them just to display my work to my friends. Vlogging is what sparked my interest in media.

Vlogger, David Dobrik

There are many successful vloggers on YouTube in this generation, and that is what really interested me in media. Vlogger, David Dobrik , is one of the most well-known vloggers in our generation, and he is good at what he does. Dobrik is 27 years old and has 17.9 million subscribers. He is originally from Kosice, Slovakia, but moved to Chicago when he was 6. In 2017 he won vlogger of the year, and his yearly income is about 10 million a year from vlogging, podcasts, brand deals, and selling merch. He now lives in Los Angeles, California. His extreme success at such an early age inspires me in three main ways.

Inspiration 1

Dobrik earns a high amount of money, but he doesn’t let fame change his character and morals. His work he creates is not just for the money, but for the passion and entertainment to make others laugh. This is inspiring to me because he makes the videos to make others happy. There is always negativity in the media no matter where you look, so it is always refreshing to see a huge media influencer spreading happiness to others around the world.

Inspiration 2

Dobrik is also known for donating his money to different charities and organizations around the world. He is constantly buying different gifts for his friends, and financially supports the people in his family, like his MOM. He is a genuinely great person, so not only is his work inspiring, but his kindness is something we should all strive to have.

Inspiration 3

Dobrik’s vlogs have helped me through many things. During middle school, one of the most powerful Hurricanes to hit the United States hit my hometown directly. Everything was destroyed, and I did not get to live in my house again until a year and a half later. I had a lot of things affect my mental health during that time in my life, but the one thing that always made me feel better was watching David Dobrik’s vlogs. It is truly incredible how someone’s work can improve someone’s happiness and gets one through a tough time in their lives.

In Conclusion…

Media is changing the world every day for better or for worse, and I believe David Dobrik changes media for the good.
