Hi, if you don’t know what the video game series Hitman is, let me fill you in. In the Hitman games, you play Agent 47, a bald man with a barcode tattooed on the back of his head, who is assigned contracts to kill various people of interest across the globe.
It’s probably my favorite game series. Writing about it simply doesn’t do it enough justice. Its fair simplicity makes it one of the most accessible games ever and many people do not realize this. It’s practically as easy to grasp as Mario Bros or Minecraft.
The series’ three latest installments are easily the best and my go-to recommendation. Though there is an overarching story between the 3 games, each individual mission tells its own story, has its own personality, and plays slightly differently than the next. The variety in choices the player has in each mission as well is also one of the trilogy’s greatest strengths. Even if you might be dying or getting caught time after time, it always leaves you learning something new about its design and allows you to think critically about what works and doesn’t work when traversing the level. The games excel in exploration, not just of each environment, but what you can do with the tools and opportunities those environments provide.
There are a lot of highs and lows with the series, but in a general sense, it’s a series that every casual gamer should look to check out.
