The last 10 years for Xbox have been rough. Actually, ‘rough’ would be an understatement for more reasons than I can count.

Major titles developed for the Xbox One system saw rocky release after rocky release, and for the next Xbox console, the Xbox Series X/S, the streak continues with both of its major releases, Halo Infinite and Redfall ranging from mild to wild disappointments.

The publisher still strives to make an effort to make great games though, since its past showcases have included some pretty exciting announcements, most of which have yet to pay off.

It’s concerning if they will, and beyond Starfield, their closest major title from the creators of Skyrim and Fallout 4, we have yet to see actual gameplay of anything they’ve got us hyped for.

These are some games previously announced by Xbox that we have yet to actually see, and if we don’t it would certainly disappoint a lot of people, including me.

Fable

The Fable series is set to return with a soft reboot(?)/sequel. The series takes and twists and mixes famous fables and fairy tale themes with a comedic and mature world.

The series is past due for a new installment, and for me at least, my patience is running thin to see what a modern visualization of the classic series looks like.

Perfect Dark

Another remake/reboot of a classic, this one is in equal sitting with Fable, as the last entry in the series came out more than 10 years ago.

The industry isn’t really in need of another sci-fi shooter, but depending on the path The Initiative takes, I think it could be interesting, considering it will be the studio’s first game.

Avowed

There’s not really a good reason this is on this list. Surprisingly for me, of all the games they have yet to show I’m least excited for this one, which contradictorily makes me want to see it more.

It’s being developed by Obsidian Games, considered masters in their expertise, but I’m questioning if they can deliver a fantasy RPG that skillfully sets itself apart from the influx of fantasy RPGs we already have. I especially feel like this due to my disappointment with their last big RPG, The Outer Worlds.

I’m open to being proved wrong though.

On top of these, there’s an Indiana Jones title in the works by the team that made the recent Wolfenstein games; definitely excited about that. And also a new game called Contraband, developed by the team behind the Just Cause games.

I doubt all of these will be shown together, but I will certainly be surprised if they skip on giving us any info at all about them at all.

The Xbox Games Showcase is June 11, @ 10 a.m. PT. I’ll definitely be watching.
