Malala Yousafzai- youngest recipient of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize and world renowned advocate for women’s rights- recently announced her marriage on social media.
“We are excited to walk together for the journey ahead,” she said of her now husband, Asser Malik.
When I was younger, I remember reading her book, “I Am Malala” and being inspired by her determination and bold resistance of oppression. She was and remains a role model for every girl pursuing education, as well as a symbol for the continued defiance of sexism.
Seeing Malala Yousafzai graduate from the University of Oxford and maintain her fight for women’s education- hearing how she has continued cultivating a life of learning, joy, love, and progress- has always been inspiring to me. A happy congratulations to Malala and her husband!
