Yesterday I had the honor of attending a trip to Tulsa with a group I was hand selected by, known as PCS. PCS stands for President’s Community Scholars. Although it was very hard waking up at 5am on a Saturday, it was a great opportunity to not only explore what Tulsa has to offer, but to also listen to various speakers that shared the job opportunities and internships available in Tulsa all day. In addition, we went to the “Greenwood Rises” museum. Inside, we learned all about the impact the riots of the “Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921”, and how it affected the world. We also got to hear diverse speakers discussing the criminal justice system. The last event we went on was called the Greenwood Park. It was very cold, but it was a fun experience to walk around all of the play equipment. Plus, we were able to finish with going inside of the “Dear Future Self Black Exhibit”. It was an extremely memorable experience that taught me things I didn’t know before. I would go to the museum and this entire trip again. I am thankful to have been apart of this group, community, and this trip.
