I have chosen the song “Stand by Me”, by Ben E. King to add to the “Intro to Media 2022” playlist on Spotify. I made this choice because it holds a lot of value to me. Although it has a nice beat and is even in a popular 80’s baseball movie, Stand by Me, it is important to me because this song was played at my great grandmothers funeral. My great grandmother and I were really close. It was hard for me when she passed away 7 years ago. Although it makes me somewhat sad thinking about when I heard the song, it also makes me happy because she was someone who I had by my side and I am forever thankful for that. I still think this song is powerful and that others should listen to it because the lyrics talk about the influence of friendships relationships, and just having someone to rely on.
