ESSEX COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT

Case No: 1005 Date: 3/12/1893

Reporting Officer: John Lambert Prepared by: Drake Callicoat

Incident: Trespasser is found dead in a barn with a pitchfork driven through his skull.

Detail of event:

Officer Lambert responded to the call, first claimed by a close neighbor as a “noise disturbance” at the Greybriar House. Once he arrived at the scene, nobody answered the door, and Lambert was forced to break open the door. When opened, the inside of the home was found to be a “total dump” as Lambert claimed. Nobody was inside the house, but the back barnyard looked suspicious. Inside of the barn included an older man found dead with a pitchfork driven through his skull. Copious amounts of blood remained stained on the ground, as well as the walls. A message was written in blood along the walls reading “GET OUT.” Additional backup was called, and various photographs were taken by detectives.

Actions taken:

Nancy Donahew, the phone recipient, and neighbor of the home was interviewed to get further details and additional information regarding the noise disturbance. She claimed that she heard screams, stating that “I thought I heard some teenagers out playing with each other, since some will come by as a dare to the house, but after hearing it was an older man who was attacked, now I am not sure of anything.” Additionally, professionals at the morgue were able to discover an older man by the name of Davis Greybriar was the individual who had been murdered. After tracking records of Hiram Greybriar, the owner of the home, Davis was his older brother. Since Hiram has been deceased for over 20 years, this has led to continuous questioning. Further investigation is in progress.
