One thing that is most important to me now is my relationships with friends, family, and most importantly my relationship with Jesus Christ. The actions I must take to get closer towards my goals is consistency. Whether it be specifically about money, I much choose to consistently save money and know my needs vs my wants. Additionally, I must stay disciplined as much as I can, yet also allowing room for freedom too. A personal example of this is if my set goal is to spend less than $50 in a week, I must stay disciplined by taking care of the necessities first, such as gas. I may have spent $45 in a week, and I must decide if I want to save the last $5 to go towards something else later, or I could decide to spend the last of it on a coffee or snack. I must use both discipline and consistency to meet my needs and expectations.
Some obstacles I must overcome are facing the temptations of eating out daily. Although I may be craving fast food every now and then, it is important for me to not make it a daily habit, especially since the amounts of money spent adds up quickly. I believe I can start living more intentionally by laying out an outline of where I see myself in the next few years. For example, I commute and live at home currently and plan to do so for the next 3 years, but once my time is up, I must get an idea of where I want to put that money into a home and start strategizing how to make the best financial decision for myself. I am going to utilize my time in college and begin my legacy now by not taking my time at OU for granted, along with finding ways to serve my community around me in order to make a difference in someone’s life.
