What questions drive my interest in Media? I have never truly thought deeply about this. I always assumed I was just interested in media like everyone else because it has taken over culture and everyday life. I have not discovered a specific question that is propelling my interest, but I have found two words that sum it all up: Truth and Transparency. It should be every individual in the media’s number one priority to discover the truth and relay it as such. Likewise, transparency is something very important to me not only in my scholastic endeavors, but in my personal life as well. In my career in public relations, I plan to maintain integrity as well as urge those around me to avoid ulterior motives in their professional practices. The act of being one’s authentic self is often nearly impossible for some. Fear of judgment and ridicule runs rampant in today’s society, especially within the media. However, as a businesswoman, journalism student, and simply a human I intend to find the answers to these difficulties throughout my educational and professional life. I cannot and will not pretend to have all the answers, but I will go through my time searching eagerly for the best way to be myself and push others to do the same. Truth and transparency come along with letting go of fear and not letting yourself become a doormat for other people. I will learn to stand up for myself and what I believe is true and right within the realm of media.
