CASA Carnival

This past week was philanthropy week for Kappa Alpha Theta at the University of Oklahoma. From my most recent post, we know on Tuesday that cookies for casa was the first event held that week. Throughout the rest of the week to follow, They had benefit days at both The Tower on campus corner as well as Rusty’s. Anyone could go to either place to receive a refreshing drink or a delicious cone of ice cream and a portion of all money made that day would go directly to Theta’s philanthropy, CASA.

On Thursday, Theta hosted CASA Carnival which ended up being a huge success. I was honored to be a member of the philanthropy week committee and got to help set up and work the event. For food, they provided a cotton candy machine, delicious hot dogs and bags of popcorn. Little desserts were also laid out decoratively around the tables. Two main attractions were the interactive portions. On top of lemonade and cornhole, the stars of the carnival were the dunk tank and the balloon artist. Several kids were in attendance and specifically loved the funny balloon artist, Keith. I got a chance to talk to Keith as he made me a balloon flower and he is a wonderful man who has been in the business for about twenty years and loves providing entertainment to others. Many kids and adults ended up getting cute flowers or funny hats while enjoying banter with Keith. Everyone loved the dunk tank because who doesn’t want to see several college girls flopping into a cage of water! Members completed trying to hit the target with a ball to soak their friends.

Overall, CASA Carnival was a huge success, and all thanks to the two freshmen philanthropy chairs Morgan Davis and Ella Fryer!
