OU Parents Weekend

I never knew I could have so much fun with my family. Now let me explain. Two of my favorite weekends at college have been spent with my family when they travel here to Norman. In the fall, I got to combine my mom and dad with my roommates and their families. We enjoyed nice dinners and fun games at my roommate’s sister’s house, and got very little sleep that weekend. I don’t think my parents knew how fun filled a college parents weekend would be.

Spring parents weekend was a little different. This time around, my grandparents also came, along with their dog, Gracie, and my dog, Punkin. They stayed in an AirBnb in Moore and then ended up being the best decision they could have made. The first night they were here we went to the OU baseball game, then Volare with my sorority, then to Louies for a delicious patio dinner. Saturday was one of my favorite days in college by far though. We started with a brunch at Theta where we had delicious food and shopped at the vendors there. My grandma is a shopaholic so we purchased matching sweatshirts, a painting on the original theta house and a bouquet of flowers. I gave my family a tour of the campus including my dorm, the south oval and the Bizzell Memorial Library. My grandpa was especially impressed with the campus. I took them to my favorite place on campus corner, Picklemens, and we did some more shopping. We concluded the night by going back to the house for a nap before a delicious dinner at The Ranch, and sitting around the living room talking and laughing until it was time to call it a night. Sharing my new life at OU with my family is something so important to me, and I truly got to do that over spring parents weekend.
