Top 5 Superbowl Ads

Personally, I have never found much interest in the Super Bowl. However, something changed this year. I initially turned the game on to watch Rhianna in her halftime performance, but I became heavily involved in watching the commercials. A couple of them really stood out to me.

  1.  Without a doubt, TMobile’s “New Year, New Neighbor” commercial is at No. 1. As an avid fan of the classic movie, Grease, this commercial caught me off guard in the best way possible. In this media, a song was made up to the tune of “Summer Nights” from the original movie but with words that applied to the company. Having John Travolta hit his signature pose at the end was pure genius.
  2.  Coming in at a close second, the Rakuten “Clueless” commercial starring Alicia Silverstone had to be a favorite. This commercial reaches to all age group audiences because the original movie came out in 1995, but has recently had a resurgence of popularity with a younger audience. The commercial’s purpose was to spike interest in a shopping app, and what better way to do so than having the 90’s queen of fashion, Cher, make an appearance in all of her iconic movie outfits.
  3.  A commercial that pulled on my heart was, “The Farmer’s Dog”. The commercial features a woman and her dog going through stages of life together, including her going off to college. I would have never predicted that a dog food commercial would make me cry, but here I am.
  4.  The Bud light commercial starring Miles Teller and his wife was so wholesome and left a smile on my face. They were left on hold by a company and danced together to the music while drinking a Bud Light.
  5. At number five is the Popcorners commercial that included Breaking Bad. I, personally, did not watch Breaking Bad, however the use of the characters, quotes and storyline I believe was extremely smart. Using any popular TV show creates an entertainment appeal that reaches many audiences.
