When F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote and published The Great Gatsby, it was not popular. But now years laters it is. Why do you think that is?

What about this novel made it unpopular during the period in which it came out. During this era, there were parties, flapper girls and this sort of fun and loose lifestyle so why was The Great Gatsby not excepted or loved like it is now?

Do you think Fitzgerald knew it wouldn’t be popular during that time or do you think he thought it would be? And why do you think he chose to write this when he did? For whatever reason that may be, he is a creative genius and all these years later this novel is still being read by all different types of people, because Fitzgerald wrote this for everyone. Part of me wonders if he knew he was doing that, which I’m sure he did.

What do you think other writers at the time thought of Fitzgerald? Do you think some envious of him, or perhaps they thought he was “raving mad” for writing a piece that was so unpopular during its time?

So we know that The Great Gatsby was a ahead of its time but do you think 100 years in the future that this novel by Fitzgerald will still be popular, why or why not?
