My Journey to Ponte Buriano!

On our first journey to Arezzo Italy, we traveled to the beautiful area of Ponte Burano. The landscape of the region showed us a beautiful interplay between humanity and nature as well as the rich history of the area from the internationally famous bridge featured in the background of the mona lisa to the sanctuary-like views next to the water showing its visitors the beauty of the past. On our trip, we were guided by a wonderful local tour guide who had vast knowledge and history about the area. We started our journey by walking down a long dirt path where we saw the bridge from a distance to really see the view as similar as we could to see the background of the Mona Lisa you could tell this area had been protected for its beauty and history there were a couple of houses on the hilltops of the trail but most of the area seemed to be untouched by man to keep its original beauty. Tying this all together with what we learned in class the day before with Sagoffs insights I could really appreciate what the area truly meant in valued more. While walking through the beautiful untouched areas of Ponte Buriano I could appreciate them a lot more knowing how much intrinsic value these areas really hold to tourists and the locals that live around the area. The bridge gave the area a more symbolic meaning as this man-made figure wasn’t impeding on the overall nature of the environment but was adding an element of cohesiveness to the area showing the symbiotic beauty of man and nature. This is what really gave it so much intrinsic value for me personally because it magnifies how unintrusive the human touch has affected the area and complements each other in such a way that many other places in the world can not do now in the modern world.
