I believe that in this world, we are all connected in some way, somehow. It is through media that we find those connections. Something that is continually on my brain is the question, “How does this connect to me?” When I feel that I am connected to someone or something, I have the opportunity to make a lasting impact within the media through that connection; furthermore, the media can also impact me in return, as I learn from it because of the connection. Our jobs working in media is usually just a simple, “What is the story?” However, in my media world, I have a passion to dig a little deeper than simply understanding what is going on, and reporting about it. I want to ask more questions such as “How can I help?” or “How can I learn and grow from this?” My goal in media is to not only fulfill my job as a journalist, but to listen, learn, and take action within media to make myself a better person. That leads me to my last question that I hope to answer one day in my media world: How do I make the world a better place? I hope that through my connections in media – by listening, storytelling, taking action – I can help improve our world in some way. Whether that be impacting one person’s life, a whole community, or a large audience, I hope to answer my question of “How do I make the world a better place” within my time in media.

On a side note, last week I started OU Nightly doing Crew and Web Team Producing! I learned how to set up a live shot and some basic camera controls… it was such a fun learning experience! I also am a Web Team Producer, so I learned all the ins and outs of the social medias, how iNews works, and how to run the Facebook live stream. We are making big moves here in Norman! Cannot wait to learn more, and dig even deeper. 🌟💖
