NORMAN, OK — With a dream of owning her own business while bearing a constant sweet tooth, Tabitha Fults combined the two after nearly a decade.

Fults and her 17-year-old daughter, Narissa, have always gone out for ice cream during soccer trips.
“However, we would find ourselves wanting more than just ice cream but macaroons, brownies and donuts too. We like to try to find all the different sweet spots, but sometimes that would end up being six different places,” Fults said.
This situation inspired her to open Sweet Sips and Sticks.
“I got a whiteboard marker and just started playing with ice cream shop names on my bathroom mirror along with different things I could create,” Fults said. “I thought that I could start with ice cream and then create stuff on that. I could add the donuts, cookies and all of that on top.”
Fults wanted to open the business in 2016.
“I would think ‘I can’t start a business’ and would just go get another regular job, instead. But it just always came back to me in different facets,” Fults said.
After years of planning, she decided to go for it in 2020. However, a new roadblock interfered with her plans.
“I got a business plan, a logo and everything…and then COVID-19 happened,” Fults said.
She said she didn’t want to open a business during the pandemic, so she had put off her plans again – until last fall. Sweet Sips and Sticks finally opened its doors on Campus Corner in September 2022.
“I just took the leap. And here we are,” Fults said.
According to Fults, business has been successful the past seven months.
“We just saw the shop while walking on Campus Corner and decided to try it,” customer Kyrtleigh Snow said.
Emma Ludwig, another customer said, “My friends have been talking about it, so I went with my family. We had fun making our own treats.”

While a Braum’s milkshakes cost $2.50, regular milkshakes cost $8, but come with multiple treats and toppings. With spring and summer approaching, the dessert shop is anticipating a busy crowd after “surviving” the winter and fall.
“We have fun being creative with sweets like candies, cupcakes and cookies,” Madalyn Frazier, a creator at Sweet Sips and Sticks, said. “We have some new goodies coming out as well.”
Sweet Sips and Sticks is open Wednesday-Sunday and located at 333 W. Boyd Street Suite 110, Norman, OK.
“If you’re sad, happy or wanting to celebrate something, ice cream is always the answer,” Fults said.
