For the 2025 recruiting class, we are ranked #16, much better than the transfer portal. Our two top recruits are offensive tackles, one of which is the highest-rated offensive line recruit OU has ever landed. The offensive line was a huge concern last year, and bringing in these recruits is very promising. I believe Michael Fasusi (the #1 lineman) will likely be a starter for us this season, which would be very impactful. The only other incoming freshmen that I think have an actual chance at starting this upcoming season are our two wide receiver recruits, as our wide receiver room is not very deep right now. Other than that, unless we have a “breakout” player, I don’t see many of the other players being clear starters. As of right now, for the 2026 class, we are ranked #28. I am not too concerned about this, as there’s still another full year of recruiting to get some more top prospects. Two of the recruits seem very promising. Jaden O’neal is a QB recruit in the 2026 class and is currently ranked as the 15th best quarterback prospect in the class. I’ve watched his highlight tapes, and he’s extremely talented. I think he’ll end up being a top 5 quarterback recruit by the end of next season, and he will come in perfect timing as John Mateer will be gone, and Michael Hawkins Jr. will be a senior. Another prospect in the 2026 class I am very excited about is Daniel Odom. Odom started for the #5 high school team in the nation as a sophomore. He also fills a need we’ve had for the past couple of years, which is a receiver. Overall, I’m very optimistic about the future for the Sooners.
