As of right now, we’re tied at #11 for the most players that have entered the transfer portal (leaving our team). This puts us at 63 out of 134 college football teams, which is clearly unacceptable considering we’re a top 5 program of ALL TIME! As of right now, we only lost 4 real starters from last season, along with our entire receiving core besides our best receiver, Deion Burks (our savior). One of those “starters” was Jackson Arnold, who got benched for a freshman for half the year, so it’s not much of a loss, ESPECIALLY since we got THE John Mateer, who is going to win the Heisman with us this year. All of our other starting transfers we got replacements for. Most of the people we’ve had transferred in were D2 or FCS (Lower level D1, there are 129 teams in the FCS, and 134 in the FBS) players, so it’s not clear whether they will be good or not. Nearly all of our new transfers are players with a chip on their shoulder. Whether it be because they used to play at D2 or FCS schools or because they didn’t start at their old team. I like this because they have something to prove, so they will be much more likely to put the work in to prove everyone wrong.
