Zwink’s My Last Name, Talking (Indefinitely) is My Game; My Career Path Down PR in Sports Entertainment

At age 4 I wanted to be a singer when I grew up. At age 5 I wanted to be a cheerleader. At age 7 I wanted to be Hannah Montana. But alas, at age 19, I hate to disappoint my younger self in giving up on my path to be a fictional character as my career path, but instead have chosen to go down the public relations study with a focus on social media and sports business.

From the moment I exited the womb, I knew my duty in life was to give my insight to others, wanted or not. Working in PR will hopefully give me the leeway I need to be able to talk nonstop and give my opinion on things I consider myself an expert in. My heart is at home when I am getting paid to showcase things I love, or more importantly, be in charge and boss people around. My hope in this field is to be able to work in producing media, either in social media, broadcasting, or even as a manager of some form of entertainment.

As you can see in the photo on the right, I have been a Thunder supporter since day one, and my cosplay of Steven Adams was just the beginning of the journey I am wanting to take in the sports entertainment industry. Since I’m not a 7-foot-tall man, I’m forced to pick a different stance on my career path in sports entertainment.

As quickly as our society and world is developing, technology and online accounts are becoming more and more important. Sports entertainment is huge in the U.S., showing revenue as large as $520 billion in 2023.  I feel like one of the skills I am best at is following current events and trends in media, and being able to provide engaging content that is relatable to younger audiences, which I think is what many sports entertainment is struggling with keeping up on in their industries.

I am determined to make my way to the top in this industry. Whether I find myself in social media marketing, or photography, or managing, I have always been drawn to the livelihood around sports entertainment. I will do whatever it takes to be successful, even if that means wearing a fake mustache and drawing a fake tattoo sleeve on my arm again.
