Blog Post #1: Advertisements and AI

Hello again, this is Victoria English, it is today that I will be writing my first blog post, which I am frankly a bit nervous about. What I want to talk about today is related to large language models and their advertisements, as I am somebody who watches a lot of media. Ever since this semester has begun I have become more hyper aware of LLMs advertisements, for example today I was watching YouTube when an ad for this AI appeared. In order to advertise itself, it actually brought a point that we discussed from an article assigned, that of “ChatGPT Is Bullshit”, the point being, ChatGPT is unreliable source of information, and I found it astounding the makers of this particular AI used that to promote themselves. I found this to be quite the unsuccessful marketing tactic as if a big name brand that everyone knows such as ChatGPT is inaccurate, what evidence does this company have that theirs is more accurate. I guess my whole point is I found that our arguments in class could be used for or against generative AI, although, I feel like this has already been discussed but I felt this was worth mentioning and quering about, AI and it’s advertisements.

Since I cannot remember the advertisement or the name of the company, I will give the link of the video I was watching which I feel will give you guys actually a look into future plans of my blogger identity that I have rattling around in my head.

A warning prior that this video has strong language and descriptions of violence, is that even okay to recommend?? I’m going to hope I don’t get in trouble. This was just the video I was watching and the only link I can think to add plus it involves a TTRPG something I’m passionate about and wish to discuss further maybe in a future blog.

  1. Wow, great minds think alike! My entire paper’s standpoint is your claim. The only thing I would add are some of those pros and cons. Great post!
