A collection of my work from my time at KOCO 5 News, Gaylord News, News Channel 5, and KSWO 7 News. All the work below is edited and written by myself.

Feature Pieces

This story aired on January 20th, 2025, for KOCO 5 News in Oklahoma City. I worked with a photographer on the video aspect, and I wrote and edited the final piece together using Adobe Premier Pro. The purpose of this story was to bring awareness to the teams cause while highlighting the community connections at play. The key lesson I took from this story was the importance of natural sound and leaving your interviewees mic’d up for the entire shoot.
This story was put together on July 30th, 2024 as a part of my internship with News Channel 5 in Nashville. I shadowed a photographer and reporter on this shoot and used their footage to write my own version and edited it together on Avid. The purpose of this story was to highlight Nashville’s contribution to a much bigger product. One skill I utilized during this process was getting creative with the b-roll including the phone shots and use of game music.
This story aired on KOCO 5 News on September 11th, 2024 as a part of my semester with Gaylord News in D.C. I shot with a Sony ZI50 and wrote and edited this piece on Adobe Premier Pro. One thing I learned from this experience was the power of a pitch, and gaining the confidence from my team to send me to New York to cover this story. The purpose of this story was to highlight the connection between two cities who both faced terrorism and overcame by leaning on each other.
This story aired on KOCO 5 News on December 27th, 2024, as a part of my semester with Gaylord News in D.C. I shot using a Sony Z150, and wrote, and edited this piece using Adobe Premier Pro. My objective was to inform Oklahoma audiences about Coach Newberry’s background and connections in the state. I learned that planning, communication, and kindness will help you open any doors, even ones at the Naval Academy.
This story was put together on June 20th, 2024 as a part of my internship with News Channel 5 in Nashville. I shadowed a photojournalist on this shoot and used his footage to edit on Avid and write my own version. The objective of this piece was to highlight a local retirement homes and the stories their residents have. One lesson I took away from this shoot was the added storytelling aspects that multiple cameras bring to a story.

This story was published on November 5th, 2024 as a part of my semester with Gaylord News in D.C. I shot using a Sony Z150, and wrote, and edited this piece on Adobe Premier Pro. The point of this story was to bring the student’s perspective into the post-election conversation. The lesson I learned from this story is that while access isn’t always available you can make do with what you have
This story was published on December 15th, 2024 as a part of my semester with Gaylord News in D.C. I shot using a Sony Z150, and wrote, and edited this piece on Adobe Premier Pro. I thought it was important to tell this story to help breakdown Tariffs to an Oklahoma audience. Through the process of this shoot I relied on my creativity and used the classroom environment available to me.
This story was put together on June 15th, 2024 as a part of my internship with News Channel 5 in Nashville. I shadowed a photographer and reporter on this shoot and used their footage to edit on Avid and write my own version. This story was a developing situation so we were responsible for getting information on the ground to bring to our audience. This experience taught me the importance of listening to your surroundings to gather all the information possible.
This story was put together on July 10th 15th, 2024 as a part of my internship with News Channel 5 in Nashville. I shadowed a photographer and reporter on this shoot and used their footage to edit on Avid and write my own version. This story was used as a way to highlight one organization’s work in the community. One lesson I learned from this is how to sequence your shots in your storytelling, I feel like I could have done better looking back.
This story was published on October 12th, 2024 as a part of my semester with Gaylord News in D.C. I shot using a Sony Z150, and wrote, and edited this piece on Adobe Premiere Pro. I pitched this story with the intention of breaking down the Gen-Z connection and references being used by the Harris/Walz campaign. One thing I learned during this shoot was how to creatively bring visual elements into your standups.

This was a developing story so this piece’s purpose was just to get perspectives from local politicians. This story came with the typical challenges of turning a press conference into a compelling story, I tried to use more casual language to get the story across.
