RP proposal draft.

I want my research paper to be about spontaneity/improvisation in jazz, how AI mimics this when attempting to generating jazz, and why it AI does not have a sense of spontaneity or improvisation when it generates art. I want to reference my firsthand experience with improvisation and compare/contrast AI’s. I want to understand the generative shape, form and structure, and if there even if any to begin with. I want to research instances of genAI repeating something across different generations. I want to know if there is anything else to AI’s generations besides mimicing of human creation, possibly anything that is tweaked with the code that allows it to step closer towards seeming more human and why it seems more human. I will reach into other forms of art that involves spontaneity/improvisation like poetry or the Jackson Pollock you mentioned to help with my point.

I anticipate working with Wilf’s The Inspiration Machine Computational Creativity in Poetry and Jazz, AI generated jazz, Miles Davis’s Miles: The Autobiography, method books for learning improvisation (Charlie Parker Omnibook), J. L. Moreno’s Theory of Spontaneity-Creativity from Sociometry and the Science of Man.
