I want to write a research paper that explores the ways women use poetry to live well in the world. Specifically the ways women use poetry to address violence, dehumanization, degrading, and over sexualization. The approach I want to take is one that doesn’t focus mainly on the pains of it, although there is a place and time for that, but instead address how to live with it, how to hope, next steps to take. I want this paper to focus on the ways women are working towards healing and what the possibilities are for us. I think this is an opportunity to seek out and hear the voices of women who have put effort into sharing something with the world because they have something to offer. I’m going to start with the song “What was I made for” by Billie Eilish created for the Barbie movie and let the rest of my sources be an answer to that call, an imagining for all we have been made for, an imagining of all that is possible for us.
