Lots of advertisements that I come across daily affect me in some way. They could positively motivate me to do something for the greater good. Perhaps they persuaded me to buy something I didn’t need, but I believed I must have it anyway. Or they could get me thinking about a subject matter I didn’t put much thought into beforehand. Whatever the situation, all advertisements, whether seen on TV, social media, or in a newspaper, have some effect on everyone.

The advertisements that appeal to me the most are the ones that spike my emotions. They motivate me to take action and meditate more on what the ad presented. An example of an advertisement that has appealed to me the most emotionally would be ads from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or in other words, ASPCA. This non-profit organization’s primary goal is to stop animal cruelty. Seeing advertisements from this organization hit close to home because I am not only a person who loves animals, but my family owns two dogs that were rescued.

These advertisements from ASPCA often show images of animals in a harsh, unfriendly, and unsafe environment. Seeing these images causes a wave of sadness to overcome me because seeing animals suffering slowly is such an awful and cruel process. I remember the first time I saw one of these ads, I was so moved that I immediately wanted to help. The ASPCA uses these images to make people feel bad for the animals, causing them to donate to the overall cause of preventing animal cruelty. Witnessing these advertisements on television always causes me to feel remorse for the animals. It persuades me to donate money to this organization so that these animals in crisis can find a forever home that is safe and loving.

Advertisements from the ASPCA have impacted me in a way that has made me feel more love for animals, more love towards others, and more willingness to provide for those in need.
