I remember this trip because it was like no other. It started with me getting out for Christmas break. I was excited because I had already planned a hunting and fishing trip with some of my old childhood friends for the second day after I got in. So I woke up at five a.m., took the rest of my bags down to my truck and started my 12 hour road trip back home. I got into Dallas where I had to stop and pick up some duck decoys I bought off a guy on Facebook. After I continued my road trip and got in around 6ish. The next day I grabbed my truck keys and set out to the academy to get myself a new shotgun for hunting, I was excited like a little kid on Christmas. After everything it was the next day which we planned the trip for. We loaded up the boat at 4 am and headed out for the long boat ride that awaited us. We spent all day hunting and exploring, we traveled deep through mangroves with heavy gear. We ended up in 6 inches of water with the boat, a limit of ducks and a 300 pound hog we carried for 2 miles. It was an extremely long day. We were exhausted but the trouble was not over yet. We still needed to get out of 6 inches of water and get out of deep tight paths of mangroves on the boat. Eventually after a couple hours we made it out but the whole time we were all laughing and enjoying ourselves because of the freedom we get from being outdoors. We are truly enjoying life of liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Being outdoors is a free feeling that my friends and I get because we are able to explore the world and enjoy the Earth that was given to us to cherish.
