The Art of Lowballing

This weekend I had absolutely no luck whatsoever at any of the 4 stores I went to. I spent three hours rummaging through the thrifts just to find some pants and there was absolutely nothing good. I went back home super bummed and felt like my day had been wasted.

But then I remembered one of my favorite apps, Depop. I love Depop. You can find almost anything on there, most of it being second hand and cheap. Best part? You can send offers to lower the price.

I bought 5 pairs of pants this weekend, one pair for litterally $7. I spent maybe an hour going back and forth with one seller to get a low price on some pants. I love lowballing Depop sellers, my favorite activity.

    I love lowballing people. This summer I found a Technics turntable someone was selling for $300 at a trading post, which is a good price for a Technics. The guy selling it didn’t know how turntables worked, and the Technics table he was selling at this post had a broken belt (which is like a $12 replacement and takes under a minute to fix). Anyways, I told him about this broken part and how the table was no longer functional because of it, and how I would have to repair it. I shot him an offer of $50, he said $80, and we settled on $65. You simply gotta lowball sometimes even If you come across as annoying. You never know what’ll happen.

    I love lowballing as well, and even just bargaining in general. My friend and I ordered McDonald’s from DoorDash the other day, and I tried bargaining with him. I tried paying him back with $15 in points instead of the $12 I owed him. Of course, he rejected it because who would want points over cash? It’s still fun trying to make it work though!
