The advertisement that influenced me the most in all my memory would be the Spider-Man Across the Spider-verse trailer. I remember watching the trailer and not knowing what to do at all. It was one of those moments where you want it to be released and happen right then and there. They knew just what to show and how much to show with no spoilers. The visuals that were shown were spot on, along with the music that was played. Which lines that they put in the trailer. The biggest inspiration in this trailer/advertisement was the impactful quote that changed my life when Miles said “Everyone keeps telling me how my story is supposed to go. Nah. I’m-a do my own thing”. I will forever hold this quote in my life, because it was changed after hearing this. As much as I am a Batman guy the impact is different on me when it comes to Miles Morales. I feel that Latin Culture is underrepresented in the superhero world and with the addition of the Spiderman (Miles Morales version) it was such an amazing thing in my eyes. I was so happy to see an Afro Latino on screen and in all honesty I did fall even more in love when I realized Miles MORALES that is my last name too!! So even the addition of Miles into the comics years ago was actually so amazing to me. I even shed a tear of joy when watching the second trailer. It built me up so much more for the movie watching it. This trailer was so incredible that I promised myself I would watch it on opening day, which I did. It also made me way more of a Spiderman fan and made the Miles Morales Spiderman my tied for first place favorite hero with Batman.
Donor Collapse on Campus
With the friendly competition to see which university can donate the most blood out of the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University. In last years competition, OSU ended up taking it away by almost double the amount our university was able to bring in. This year is even scarier of a competition for us, because it is not only our last year in Bedlam for the foreseeable future, there also has been a huge downfall in donors since last year. With the advertising for it not being where it should, last years graduating class having half of our donors form last year, and no new participants joining the odds are not looking good at all. It is up to all of us to join and donate blood. Not just for the competition of Bedlam, but the need for blood on a day to day basis that without the donations made by us would cause so many downfalls. There has been another nearly “25%” downfall according to RedCross. It’s deeper than just a competition and the collapse of donors is definitely worrisome. We must be the change on campus that is needing to happen. People are constantly in need of blood so we must be able to keep up with the average need and not have fall offs. The blood is needed for all different kinds of people. People who just got into a car accident and are losing large amounts of blood, surgeries, child birth, cancer treatments, and so many more. Just the ones that were listed occur so often and are constantly happening in day to day life whether people realize it or not.
Greybriar the “Kill House”
Greybriar has been labeled as the “Kill House”, because of the recent reports that have come out of mysterious murders with bodies disappearing. The problem has been rumored to be rooted deeper than meets the eye. The Greybriar family in 1982 built the Greybriar Lighthouse where Mary Greybriar snuck a man into have an affair on her husband Greg Greybriar. He walked in on the two in the middle of the affair and did not hesitate to grab ahold of the man before he could escape and tortured him till, death took him out of his misery. Greg would later find out that the man was the head sailor for South America. His hatred led to him cursing the water surrounding the lighthouse to lead ships straight to their deaths. The curse did not fail to hold up with the disappearing of many ships that pass through this cursed water. His thoughts of killing other people himself and not just through a curse had become so unbearable he took matters into his own hands. He would leave his wife to watch as all the ships be destroyed and disappear by the curse brought by him to always remind her of the pain, he caused her at the lighthouse alone.
After Greg’s first kill, he had become so obsessed with inflecting pain and causing death onto others. Greg Greybriar decided in 2002 he was going to bring over his 3 boys which he had also influenced to become obsessed with the same thoughts as him and buy over 25 acres of land right outside of the town of Broken Bow, OK. With this purchase he planned to satisfy the thoughts and joy of him and his sons by luring in high school teens and tourist to his land by splitting up his land into two halves. Half of it being a lure to bring teens and adults to his house with a haunted house for a cheap price and the other just being open dark land. He planned out his land strategically to where after the haunted house the sons of Greybriar would mislead the teens to the other side of the land. It is then they would set up traps around the other side to cause breakdowns of vehicles. It opened up two months later after purchasing the house. It was then on March 23, 2002, where the sudden disappearing of both people and vehicles had begun. It was almost midnight when the oldest boy, Konner, saw the perfect opening for their first victims in a teen couple by the names of Jerry and Emma being the last to leave from the haunted house. He gave them directions to the other side of the land. Not knowing that he sent them to their death they passed over nails causing their car to go flat and be stranded with no cell phone service. Greg would take advantage of them trying to put on the donut and take them into his house where he tortures them until they have bled out. It is now 2023 and Greg passed away 11 years ago with no reports of where his 3 sons went. Though he passed away and his kids disappeared there are still tourist and teenagers that runaway out there that never make it back. It was rumored that Greg cursed all of his land and house with the same curse set out at the lighthouse. He also mentioned before passing away on an interview that anyone who stepped in the as he called it “Kill Zone” was likely to not make it out. The “Kill House” still in effect and doesn’t seem to be slowing down.
5 Best Spooky Season Movies/Shows
There are sooo many movies that you can watch during the Halloween season. Although some of them may not be as good as what people say there’s without a doubt a top five list for spooky season! So, let’s dive right in.
5. Coming in at number five, we got Saw. If you’re looking for quite the scary and gory movie to watch when the kids are not around, well Saw is the movie to watch. Saw comes with a ten movie long series so we’re just going to go with the first one. With two complete strangers with no collection whatsoever having no idea how they ended up in an empty room together. They quickly realize this is just one big event of small deadly games that mean life or death put together by an insane serial killer.
4. Next up number four! let’s switch it up for number four, we’ll go with more of a family friendly movie that you simply cannot go wrong with! What would that happen to be you ask? Well, that would be “The Nightmare Before Christmas“. How could you ever go wrong with one of the most iconic Halloween characters ever in Jack Skeleton! Jack Skeleton is king of Halloween Town when out of nowhere he decides to venture out and discovers Christmas Town. Being in Christmas Town and learning of their ideas and ways of life he tries to bring it back to Halloween Town. How will the citizens of Halloween Town react to their kings’ new ideas getting brought back? Guess it’s up to you to find out!
3. Uh ohhhh! Top three timeee! Coming in at number three we haveeee *drum roll* Edward Scissorhands! This may be a bit biased, but I mean who doesn’t enjoy a good Johnny Depp film? If you don’t then don’t answer, because then it’ll be awkward, I’m just kidding. Biased aside Edward Scissorhands is truly a cinematic masterpiece and the story developing is quite interesting. Edward is an artificial man who’s hands are made of scissors who also spends most of his life away from everyone and everything until he is taken in by a family and has to adapt to this new way of living.
2. Coming in at two is Monster House! Monster House is another family movie for everyone. Although me personally it wasn’t as lighthearted or easy going as Hotel Transylvania, or The Nightmare Before Christmas it was definitely more intimidating than the other ones listed. A group of teens find out and quickly realize that there is a live, scary house that is in their neighborhood.
- Last, but not least whatsoever! It isssss going to beeeeeee Hotel Transylvania! Yes, this one is quite a debatable one, but there’s more than meets the eye. This is without a doubt for every category of watchers. The film is very comedic, family friendly, and has a good development with relationships among characters. Dracula the main character is operating a high-end resort for all the other scary creatures of the world to live at with a daughter who he has always been overprotective of.
What Makes a Quality Film?
In the movie industry there are many different ways to make a quality movie. The genre you’re going for can play a key component in what you consider a “quality film”. For example, for an action film, you would (obviously) look for action and the quality of the combat in the film. In Mystery/Thriller, you would look for suspense, impending doom, mystery, and plot twists. Superhero-based movies, in order to be considered quality, must line up with the comics in some way or be able give the hero a reasonable back story and provide their why. Also, the action shots behind it, as well as who plays that hero and how well they portray the character. There are so many genres of movie that present smaller components to making that genre of film quality in its field, but all movies when it comes to creating a quality film must contain quality acting, a quality theme, or message behind it (most of the time), the directing, the pacing throughout the movie, and the writing behind the movies. It is simply not enough to have great actors without having great writing for the actors to act on, it’s not enough to have a quality theme in a boring movie that people will struggle to keep up with, and it is not enough to have amazing writing and amazing directing without amazing acting from your actors. In a quality film you must be able to put all these elements together to create that cinematic masterpiece. The greatest films are timeless. They remain amazing throughout time, no matter the decade, or era it will aways be able to be watched.

There are so many films that can be considered quality. One of the first and biggest that comes to mind is “The Dark Knight” the film directed by Christopher Nolan that features Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and several others. They all had phenomenal acting in this film and there was no doubt about it, Heath Ledger won best supporting actor in this film. The directing was magnificent from Christopher Nolan which had a vision and went through with the vision. The action in the scenes were amazing, The pace was truly magnificent, the story incredible, and the writing was truly a work of art. There are small details about this film that makes it beyond a quality film. Throughout the whole movie you can feel the raw emotion from all the actors and actresses throughout the whole film. The pace is always steady always keeping people on the edge of their seats. The film didn’t fail to also have wonderful cinematic shots throughout the entirety of it. “The Dark Knight” is a prime example of putting all of the things listed earlier into one film and making it a one of a kind. It also has the awards it was nominated for, and won to back up it being a true quality film.

Christopher Nolan
Christopher Nolans’ work has always inspired my mind in the aspect of creativity with no CGI needed. Growing up my go to was anything Batman related, and when he had the beautiful presentation of “The Dark Knight Trilogy” at the moment I didn’t realize just how incredible it was till rewatching it, and then decided to watch behind the scenes and witnessed just how incredible his creativity was for the movies. Nolan was given the hard task of bringing back to life the iconic character that is Batman and surpassed all those expectations.

Watching Nolans’ work helps with the creativity side of eventually becoming head of an advertising team for companies like, Disney, Warner Bros, D.C. Comics, and Marvel. Being part of this field requires creativity and in seeing what all Christopher Nolan can do without all the practical affects inspires me to be able to one day be able to lead those advertising and marketing teams to bring in so much revenue for the company in which I will work for. While Nolan was reviving the iconic character of Batman he decided to in between “Batman Begins” and “The Dark Knight” co-write, and direct “The Prestige” with Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale. Then “The Dark Knight” was released after this release he then began his next project in arguably one of the greatest movies that ends up often in debates when it comes to the topic which was “Inception“. Nolans’ never failed to bring people incredible cinematic experiences when it came to his work. After “Inception” he finished off his amazing Batman trilogy with “The Dark Knight Rises“. After the trilogy was complete, he was assigned yet again to revive one of the most iconic characters in Superman. Where he yet again did not disappoint in giving us the masterpiece of “The Man of Steel“. His work has since continued with many more. Nolan although he is a movie writer, and director has inspired my creativity side that will be of great importance in my career.
