And the talk about alcohol, like champagne being poured, is parallel to people drinking at Gatsby’s parties.

The lyrics and understanding of the song show it’s another version of what Gatsby does to try to get Daisy back. Lavish parties, Alcohol, Drugs, anything to make a party known to have the person they love hear about it and come to the party. It’s written in a way for people of the 21st century to understand, which could help people who read The Great Gatsby understand the lengths he is going to meet his past lover again.

It also shows the storyline never went away, people still live with the same issues even 100 years later. in a way, it can bring people together and realize we aren’t the only ones dealing with it. Especially if people from 100 years ago went through the same issues in life. It gives a sense of comfort and belief that you can get through the struggles of life.
