Lamar Jackson and Michael Vick

There once was a prominent dual threat quarterback in the early 2000s. It had been so long since a quarterback possessed such incredible speed and shiftiness and many said that would never happen again. Michael Vick was this back and he started his collegiate career at Virginia Tech and was drafted first overall in the 2001 NFL draft. He was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons and spent seven years there before his run in with the law for dog fighting. He was later sent to jail for a short stint and returned to the NFL a year later, but he was never the same player he once was. The league saw many scrambling quarterbacks after this but none quite like Vick. His speed and scrambling ability along with his strong arm was off the charts. This was until the emergence of Louisville standout Lamar Jackson. He bursted onto the scene setting a ton of records in a bowl game against Texas A&M and put his name on the map. This was followed by a sensational Heisman winning season with highlights none had seen since 2000 from the once great Michael Vick. Their speed was identical and both played with the same swagger that had never been seen before. Lamar was later drafted thirty second overall by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2018 draft. After a rookie season spending most of the time on the bench, he was able to secure the starting spot over Joe Flacco. In this season, he had insane production much like he did in his college days and went on to win the NFL MVP. No one knew how to guard this new dual threat and no one was able to gameplay for him as he spent all season scorching defenses. There truly has never been a doppelgänger duo in the NFL like these two and there most likely won’t be ever again. Their swagger on and off the field and play style is identical and unmatched by the thousands of quarterbacks to ever be produced into the league.
