Brooklyn Nine-Nine is based around a Police Precinct. Jake Peralta is supposedly the best detective at the precinct. At the beginning of the show, Jake makes a bet with another coworker named Amy. The bet starts with it being if Jake wins the bet then Amy will have to go on a date with him and this hints at the relationship that we will see grow throughout the show.
Throughout the show, we see a little bit of a dilemma that still haunts Jake. When Jake was young his dad left him and only his mom was around and we see this referenced a lot throughout the show. We do see his father show up in the show but we see at the end that Jake is able to overcome his mindset of him potentially being like his own dad.
Throughout the show, Jake and Amy get jealous of each other’s relationship. One time when Jake learned Amy’s tell of when she liked someone he got jealous and thought she was talking to a guy. He later finds out that she did her tell for him in the scene. In the later seasons once they start dating they start thinking of marriage and children. This is where Jake decides to let go of his father and realizes that he will be better than his father.
